This is me:

This is me over a decade ago. I’m 22 years old (edit: now 24! eek!) and when I say old, I actually mean young, terribly young. I graduated college a semester early and thrust myself full time into this horrendous job market in February. Luckily, my full-time intern position at a Hedge Fund Consulting firm matriculated into a permanent position. I had been working there for 3 years while pursuing my undergraduate business degree, and I guess for some reason, they liked me. Now somehow I’ve fallen into investment banking, and for some odd reason they like me too. I continue to amaze myself.
I started cooking when I was a wee one because Little Mommies (also the WONDERFUL EDITOR of this blog–because I spell like a 6 year old) was always entertaining. She was a food editor at Scholastic Magazines and her passion continued as she decided to stay home and raise me.

Look at us go. I am reminiscent of a young Jack White in this picture. Check out that hair.
I think my mom finally realized I was serious about baking when I created a model of the Nile River in cake form for my third grade class. I actually made a lot of it myself, contrary to the belief of the other students, and really enjoyed it.

I’m slightly cuter at this point. However, I’m just about to hit that 10 year long awkward stage, that I’ve just started to grow out of.
If I had the choice, I would spend every day cooking and baking. I would love to own a bakery, but right now being a risk analyst in the hedge fund world is gonna have to cut it. Don’t think I can quit quite yet after my parents shelled out a fortune for one of the best undergrad business schools in the country. I enjoy my life with plenty of cooking and a heap of cynicism. At the end of the day, if you’re not different from the person next to you, life just isn’t fun. Enjoy my blog, don’t take offense at my sarcasm, stay healthy and make others happy.

Ah, almost through that awkward phase.

Hey Jess -
How great is this site!!! As you know I can only make two things – so I’m counting on you and your blog to help me out … and by that I mean … “take the put out of the cabinet … rinse the dust ….” you know that kind of stuff! You rock!
Gwen & Co.
Hi Jessica,
Your mom posted your bolg address so I just checked it out. It looks great. I work with people to help them lose weight using some great, healthy products but one of the really important factors is eating healthy, low calorie meals and these recipes look just right and yummy. I’ll check in regularly!
See you soon.
Susan
You’re like the badass Martha Stewart! This website is fantastic, and I might actually learn something in the process. Step aside easily charred microwaveable popcorn!
Seriously, though, I’m impressed.
Jess, this is great!! We need to have a dinner party sometime
Yes we do! Our whole Blaw Group
Jess, this is AMAZING. I loved reading your entries! Keep it up
Hi Jess…Just to clear things up…I’m an eater–not a cooker. In otherwords you cook, I’ll eat! I enjoyed the blog. It helped me to feel better, I’m home with the flu. (I hope it’s NOT the Swine flu), I just got back from California and never did kiss a pig. Just something that’s going around I guess. How about a box of homemade cookies to cheer me up?
I’ll be looking forward to seeing you and the family in Sept.
was baby moses floating down the nile in that third grade cake? that reminds me of a good joke…maybe not.
