I was eavesdropping on a couple when I was out to dinner with my friend Josh the other night and they were speaking about deep fried butter. I guess this is the new fad at fairs in the South. This might be the only deep fried thing I have no desire to eat. However, since my talent is eavesdropping, I continued to listen and the woman brought up the other treat of the affair, deep fried candy bars. When I heard this, I knew I needed to have one. I’m not sure how I will get my hands on a deep fried Milky Way, but it will happen. Instead, I decided to make cookie-baked candy bars, as a close second. I had heard about these before, and I decided it was my turn to make some. I used Pillsbury dough because I was lazy and not sure how these were going to turn out, but I’m sure you can use your own homemade cookie dough.

What I really like about these cookies is that they are a surprise. Unless you mark them, you have no idea what type of candy bar you will get in each cookie. I want to try this with jelly beans, but use the Harry Potter kinds that have vomit and booger flavors, so it’s an extra surprise…kinda like Russian Cookie Roulette.
Ingredients:
- 1 roll sugar cookie dough (I used Pillsbury.)
- At least 20 assorted miniature chocolate candy bars (I used the ones that are the size of dice, but you can use bigger bars and cut them up.)
- Chocolate chips for drizzle (Optional)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Slice the dough into 1/4 inch thick slices (or grab tablespoons of homemade dough and flatten). Place candy bar in the middle, and wrap the dough around, rolling it in your hands to make it into a ball. Place cookies with at least an inch space between on a greased cookie sheet or a Silpat (I suggest a Silpat if possible.). Bake for 10 minutes, or until the cookies are golden around the edges. Let cool, and transfer to wax paper. Melt chocolate chips in a microwave oven safe bowl/measuring cup until melted, in 10 second intervals. Be sure to stir after each interval; chocolate chips holds their shape when melted. Stir chocolate with a fork, then quickly move chocolate covered fork back and forth over the cookies to get a drizzle design (I suggest practicing first….).

Me want a soft boiled cookie
And a glass of cookie juice on the side
Or for a change one morning
Me will have cookies scrambled or fried
These cookies were insane! I can’t wait to try it myself….thanks for this sweet idea!
