I’m a whiskey girl through and through. Nothing’s like a glass of Johnny Green or Laphroaig 10 after a long day–I can even be partial to some Jim Beam when I’m rocking back with my guy friends to some Slayer. But, the girlfriend is more into the craft cocktails and beer, so I decided to whip up something special one day to satisfy her tastes.
Meet the Ruby Red!
**Look at that fancy manicure**
- 1 shot sloe gin
- 2 shots vanilla vodka
- Splash triple sec
- 8 ounces Ruby Red grapefruit juice
- 1 teaspoon of grenadine syrup
- 3 ice cubes
Pour all the ingredients into a shaker; shake and then strain into chilled glass. Enjoy!
**Alert Alert** One of the biggest diet foils is drinking!! A shot of alcohol has around 80 calories depending on what you’re getting, and if you mix it with juice or anything other than club/diet soda, you’re asking to put on the pounds. (Luckily, the girlfriend doesn’t have this problem.) The Ruby Red is a moderate calorie drink, but be warned, some margaritas can have up to 800 calories!! Now, don’t get me wrong. I’ve definitely found myself at the bottom of a pitcher of sangria, but try to stick to straight alcohol if possible, or use zero cal mixers. No buzz is as good as a skinny buzz!
